Read what Accelerator Alumni have to say about their experience with Agora:
“Today I feel much more comfortable with the objectives of my business, its future potential, and its weaknesses thanks to Agora. Through the Accelerator…I had the opportunity to validate my ideas with a very talented and diverse group of entrepreneurs, investors and mentors who provided much value in criticizing and suggesting new ideas. I had the opportunity to rethink my business from new points of view, and to have a deeper understanding of the mechanisms and procedures for investment, and the philosophy behind them. I met wonderful people who inspired and motivated me to keep going.”
“Through Agora’s consulting services we expanded and enlightened the vision for our organization and our products, and researched new opportunities…and now we feel much more comfortable with the decisions that we make as a social business.
Another benefit was that we were able to expand our network because Agora exposed us to new types of organizations and investors that were interested in our project. We met organizations that aren’t only seeking to make financial return, but that are trying to make an impact. To be honest, we initially had doubts about whether the Accelerator would add value to our business, but after completing the program we were more than satisfied with the results”
“Alongside 26 social enterprise leaders from all over Latin America, Gabriel and I dove deeply into analyses of our business model and impact, opening our eyes to previously unseen opportunities and potential.
Through the Agora accelerator, we were introduced to the Eleos Foundation, a recognized leader in the burgeoning impact investing field. Eleos will be an integral part of MMC’s growth over the coming years through an investment finalized in July 2013. MMC is the first company to pilot Variable Payment Obligation financing, also know as “Demand Dividend,” which allows us to access growth funding with entrepreneur friendly terms while retaining full ownership of our company. One of the most rewarding elements of the Agora accelerator was exposure to other amazing impact enterprises operating in Latin America. “ -MMC 2013 Impact Report
“Agora gives you the vision that so easily gets lost in the shuffle because you are just trying to get through the day-to-day of your business. Agora gives you the tools you need to see what’s coming and how to make the best of every opportunity. They gave us a lot of feedback – hard, honest feedback – about what was good about our company and what was not. This is knowledge that helps you ultimately learn and grow.”
“Agora accelerated my ability to grow and speak the language of the financing sector. It provided me a clear guide on how to structure and prepare to raise and execute capital”
Read what investors in the Agora Investor Network have to say about the Agora Accelerator:
“Agora Partnerships’ focus on helping small businesses in the developing world is critical to spreading opportunity and fighting global poverty. This is an important, highly entrepreneurial organization in the development field and as venture capitalists, we are proud to support it.”
“Agora’s pragmatic, action-focused approach to impact investing and support for social entrepreneurs is refreshing. But more importantly, it is effective: entrepreneurs coming out of the Agora Incubator program are savvy, well-spoken, creative, and dedicated entrepreneurs whom any investor would be lucky to work with.”
“Agora was instrumental first in identifying her [Aida Patricia, Founder of Oscaritos, Class ’11] as a worthy candidate for its accelerator and second in providing the additional training necessary to help get Oscaritos ready for investment.
Throughout the life of the investment, Pomona even received additional support from Agora to assist with some reporting issues that Oscaritos was having trouble completing. This translated to both cost and time savings for us (Pomona). Quite simply – Agora continues to impress!
We received the final repayment of the loan from Oscaritos on time and with an equitable financial return. We maintain a close relationship and look forward to collaborating on future projects. Thanks to all involved!”
“Agora has identified and applied a unique strategy that focuses on innovative solutions to challenges relating to economic development, climate change, and other issues in this sector. I think that this type of organization can help create a better society, and potentially change the world.”
