Without social capital, great ideas wither on the vine. With enough social capital, any idea can break through and create system-wide change.

Imagine being an optimist in a land of pessimists – that’s the reality for millions of would -be entrepreneurs across the globe.

Lack of social capital is one of key constraints to entrepreneurship everywhere. Imagine being an optimist in a land of pessimists – that’s the reality for millions of would-be entrepreneurs across the globe. And it’s why we take the concept of social capital very seriously, especially as new technologies have made it infinitely easier to initiate relationships and connect with people who share common cause.

The strongest kind of social capital occurs within groups – it shows up as trust, common understanding, ability to communicate and listen effectively, and a desire to work together to solve common problems. People have social capital (friends, networks, affiliations) and communities have social capital (norms, values, trust, expectations.) We need to increase the store of social capital available to entrepreneurs on the front lines in the battle for a more just, prosperous, and healthy planet.

We build social capital for Agora entrepreneurs by helping create a community that can get things done for the better. We connect them with networks of supporters, investors, advisors, and journalists who believe in their work and want to support their success.

Agora works to bring social capital to early stage impact entrepreneurs through our global network of partners.
