The Agora Consulting Fellowship starts with a week-long orientation focused on team-building, leadership development, Agora Accelerator introduction, and exposure to various impact investing initiatives across Agora. Throughout the week, Consultants meet with Agora leadership as well as with investors, advisors, and entrepreneurs from the Agora Network in Latin America.

During this time, Consultants learn Agora’s consulting methodology and conduct peer-trainings, utilizing their past knowledge and experience to prepare for the Accelerator. Additionally, Consultants begin to onboard companies, launching the company diagnostic process in preparation for the upcoming four months of strategic business consulting. Consultants also assist with the planning of the annual Agora Entrepreneur Retreat and lead special impact investment and consulting projects. Consultants are provided housing while in Nicaragua and typically take advantage of weekends to explore the beaches and volcanoes throughout the beautiful country.

location: Granada, Nicaragua

Held in the beautiful colonial city of Granada, the Agora Entrepreneur Retreat serves as the initiation of the Accelerator. Together for four days of community-building and rejuvenation, the 2017 class of entrepreneurs learn and collaborate alongside the Agora team, investors, mentors, and industry experts. Consultants lead valuable workshops and activities throughout the week with focus on developing relationships with and preparing companies for consulting. duration: 4 months
location: One of Agora´s hub offices located throughout Latin America

Following the Entrepreneur Retreat, Consultants travel to one of Agora Partnership’s hub offices in Latin America (exact location is determined by Agora based on client assignments, taking into account Consultant preferences, and is communicated prior to start date). During the consulting phase, Consultants work closely with the four to six companies in their client portfolio. Consultants lead regular meetings with each company, working their way through Agora’s Consulting Methodology and customizing it to meet the specific needs of each company. During this time, Consultants support their clients in developing investor deliverables, connecting with key mentors, and preparing to raise investment capital. While the consulting consists of a mix of virtual and in-person interactions, a major effort is made to align Consultant and company locations. In situations where they are not co-located, additional opportunities exist for Consultants to travel to visit their portfolio companies in-person once during the consultancy.

start: May/June

During the second half of the consulting phase, Consultants and entrepreneurs are fully focused on developing growth projections, identifying capital needs, and preparing investor communications. Consultants wrap up each consulting engagement and debrief with the Accelerator Manager. Selected Consultants may facilitate Investment Roundtables for Accelerator companies at industry conferences such as SOCAP.
