Fellow Chris Truglia working with an Agora Entrepreneur

The Agora Fellowship offers talented individuals the opportunity to play a meaningful leadership role in Agora Partnerships while doing cutting edge work in the field of impact investing and impact entrepreneurship. Graduates of the program join an amazing group of alumni, many of whom attend top business schools, start their own businesses, or work for organizations in the field. The Agora Fellowship provides an incredible opportunity for Fellows to work with entrepreneurs and local Agora staff in Managua.

Meet our current Fellows:

Humberto Machado (DC office)

Before joining Agora Partnerships, Humberto worked in Nicaragua as an Administration Manager at Trayma Engineers, a family-owned construction company, and then as a Statistics Officer in the Corporate Credit Department at the Central American Bank. Humberto has over five years of experience handling project logistics as well as financial strategies in commercial lending and corporate finance. Humberto graduated from the Universidad Americana (UAM) in Managua with a BS in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from Kogod School of Business at American University in Washington, DC. Humberto has learned to channel his frustration over Central American politics through satirical cartoons. Samples available upon request.

Christopher Truglia (Managua office)

Chris brings several years of experience in management consulting to Agora Partnerships. He has worked on a wide range of industries and assisted both nonprofit organizations and private companies. His professional approach has been in strategic models, financial performance, and business development. Chris joined Agora because he believes that entrepreneurs and innovators are the key to improving the socioeconomic conditions of communities in developing countries. Chris graduated from Virginia Tech with degrees in Finance and Marketing.

Juan Andrés Turner (Managua office)

As a Venezuelan, Juan has always been interested in the development of Latin America – politically, socially, and economically. He has a BA in Political Science from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. He gained valuable financial experience as a Financial Advisor at Ameriprise Financial, where he worked until 2009. He then moved to London where he worked as a Financial Controller for UBS and earned an MBA from St Mary’s University. Juan wrote his thesis on SME’s access to financial capital through government programs in Bangkok, Thailand. He is excited to join Agora, work in Central America, and contribute to the development of small and medium enterprises in the region.
